FutureDeluxe offered me the possiblity to create this experimental short movie called CAIRN.
When you’re hiking, especially in high mountains paths, you will find on the cliff’s edges or just at the top of a mount, some little pile of rocks called «cairns» or «ghosts». These little ghosts are there to help you find your way in the fog without ending in the ravine. It could be there to tell you that you’re on a track leading somewhere too : if you’re lost and you’re following these little «ghosts», you’ll go somewhere but you don’t know exactly where it is. That second part is what it’s interesting here : following a path without knowing the final destination. The big jump into the unknown. Having faith into discovery, curiosity and new.
This short sequence is an ode to Exploration : through the journey of the character but also, the artistic journey leading to a more existential introspection. Step by step, like a pilgrim, the hiker, like the artist is following a path where things seem very diffe-rent, almost misunderstandable, but always having the will to continue to seek for something beyond. And at the end of the journey, when you’ve reached the farthest point you’ve ever been, that place where the rocks are flying, you’ll finally understand why you came here : To find your own journey.
With the «ghosts» as witnesses.
